Bei Da-wu
(3,092m) is the most southerly of the ‘top 100’
highest peaks. Rising apart from its neighbors in
the central mountain ranges, views from the ridge
and summit are excellent. Two days/one night is all
that is needed for ascending and descending this holy
mountain of both the Paiwan and Rukai tribes.
Day
1
Travel from Tainan (or other agreed-on pick-up point)
via Taiwu Village in Pingtung County to the trailhead
by van. Hike a couple hours to Juniper Lodge (2200m),
and settle down for the night.

Day 2
Arise early, start climbing, hopefully in time for
the sunrise at the ridge. Follow ridge past a Shinto
shrine to the summit and enjoy! Make our way back
to the trailhead and be in the city by evening.
