Alishan -
more than the train and sunrise.
---
One
of the most famous destinations in Taiwan often disappoints.
Thankfully there is much more to the area than the small-gage
railway lines and the 'Ooh, look at the sunrise'. Make
your required visit here more than a Starbucks coffee
overlooking an at-altitude car park, and a fight to be
at the front of the sunrise crowd.
Tea
plantations, sunsets, sunrises, hikes...
---
---
The historical narrow-gage railway winding its
way up switchbacks is a must do. Unfortunately it leaves
you restricted in where you can go beyond the train-line
and the rather over-commercialized resort at the end.
Or trips bring you one way (up or down the mountain) by
van stopping as you wish for easy hikes in pristine forest
and tea plantations. Once settled in your hotel we can
bring you several kilometers away to Tatajia (Tataka)
in Yushan National Park for the usually stunning sunset
over a sea of clouds. In the morning, instead of going
with the masses to the standard sunrise spot in the resort
you may come back to the National Park for a more serene
event! Various, tame to strenuous, hiking options available.
